Columbus Symphony Orchestra League was founded in 1981 with the express purpose of raising funds for the Orchestra. This dedicated group of women with approximately 40 very active members and 20 sustainers have raised over $1 million - which was achieved on the 25th anniversary of its founding. The principal fundraiser was a "Going Places" auction with many travel related items being sold. It was held every year at a Picnic with the Pops concert. The first $400,000 was endowed for the Harp Chair and succeeding monies have helped with sponsoring concerts, help with the Music Library, providing instruments and various items needed to run a Symphony office. Our fundraising has expanded to include successful "Cafe Concerts" and "Meet the Musician" events where we can meet musicians while enjoying and learning about their music. Through years of hard work, many strong friendships have been made, but we do love to have new members join us who also want to see the Symphony grow.
